I love when learning and movement can be combined – and honestly so do our students! This Swat the Bug Learning Activity will have your students having so much fun, that they will forget that they are even learning.

Swat the Bug Learning Activity comes with 26 alphabet cards and 20 number cards.

Getting Swat the Bug Learning Activity Ready
This free printable is very easy to prep. I recommend printing on cardstock and laminating so it can easily be used year after year. These are quick and easy to cut. Simply use a paper cuter and you will be done in no time! If you have a fly swatter then I recommend getting it ready. This will be your students’ favorite part!
You can either do the activity at the teacher’s table or on the front board. I find that using double-sided tape or even painter’s tape works great for attaching the laminated cards to either of these surfaces.
Doing Swat the Bug Learning Activity
Prior to starting the activity you will either lay out or tape the bug cards to the wall. We have a large magnetic wall and that worked great for my daughter. In my classroom, I would have used my teacher table or the magnetic board at the front of the room. You will want your students to be able to reach it so bare that in mind too.
When doing this whole group, I would call out a letter (or number) and students would then race to swat the bug with the letter (or number) on it.

You can either leave the bug cards on the board and move to the next letter after they swap it or have your students remove them once they have found the letters. It is completely up to you.
The picture below shows one of my favorite swatters. I love how there is a cut out built in for students to be able to see what they are swatting. I typically rotate between the two swatters.

To turn this into a friendly class competition, you can divide your class into two groups and have two students race to swat the letter once it is called. Whoever swats it first wins and gets a point for their team!

Hi there Lindsey, thank you for reaching out. I just checked it and it seems to be working. There may have been a glitch when you tried earlier. Please be sure to check your spam and other folders in case the activity is sent to one of those folders. Also, if you are using a school issued email account they sometimes block outside emails. Have a great day.
