I have loved helping your students with this Alphabet Animal Letter of the Week series! Each week we have shared a letter of the alphabet craft that preschoolers and kindergarteners can do themselves. The crafts have been designed in a way that children will develop fine motor skills, flex their creativity, and learn the alphabet all with one simple (and fun!) craft per week! Join us now as we jump into the F is for Frog craft.

Getting the Letter F Craft Ready

Print enough letter F and craft sheets for every student. You may want to print extras in case students decide they need a do-over for any reason.

Doing the Letter F Craft

Have each student color their letter. While doing this activity, you may also want to discuss the difference between frogs and toads They are so similar that many children (and even adults) get them mixed up! This Frog’s Animal Study  would be a great resource to add to your lesson plans this week.

Once students have colored their letters, they can trace the “F f is for Frog” sentence below the letter. If you prefer not to have students trace, there is a printable in the pack without the sentence as well.

Next, children can color the craft pieces that go along with the letter F craft. The craft pieces include two frog legs, two eyeballs, and a tongue.

Want to add a little silliness into this activity? Throw in this joke while children work:

“Why are frogs so happy? Because they eat whatever bugs them!”

(Cue laughter and probably an explanation of the joke. Then be prepared to hear students repeat the joke for the next week or two!)

After children have colored their craft pieces and laughed at your joke, offer them some child-safe scissors to cut the pieces out.

Last, students will glue their craft pieces to their letter F and display their finished project with pride!

Come back next week to see what animal craft we have in store for the letter G! Take a poll with your students- what animal do they think it will be?
