It’s time for another Animal Alphabet Letter of the Week Craft! For those of you just joining us, we have been doing a series of letter a week activity featuring fun animals corresponding to each letter of the alphabet. These crafts are perfect for preschoolers and kindergarteners who are learning their letters and letter sounds. This week we are working on Animal Alphabet S is for Snake.

Make learning about letters fun and easy with this Alphabet Letter S is for Snake craft.

Supplies for the Animal Alphabet S is for Snake Craft

  • Letter S Craft printables
  • Scissors
  • Crayons
  • Glue

Getting the Animal Alphabet S is for Snake Craft Ready

Print enough letter S and craft sheets for every student. You may want to print extras in case students decide they need a do-over for any reason. (Note: There are two types of alphabet pages included in the pack. One includes a place to trace the “S s is for Snake” sentence and one does not. Choose the sheet that is most appropriate for your children’s abilities.)

Doing the Letter S Craft

Ask each child color their alphabet letters. It might also be fun to do this craft after reading a snake themed book, Like Hide and Snake, a fun classic by Keith Baker!

Learning about the letter S is fun and hands-on with this S is for Snake animal alphabet craft.

After coloring, children can trace the text below their letters (keep in mind this is optional. There is a page that does not include the tracing text for your convenience).

After the children have finished coloring, pass out the craft sheets. These include a head, tongue, and several diamond markings. They can color these similar to the example or different. It’s all up to them!

Toddlers and preschoolers love Animal Alphabet crafts! Teach the letter S is for Snake.

Next, Children will cut out each craft piece from their papers. Here’s a funny snake joke to throw in during the lesson:

What do snakes use to cut paper: Scisssssss-ors!
