We are back for another Animal Alphabet Letter of the Week Craft!  The last alphabet craft we completed was I is for Iguana. Wasn’t that a fun one? This week we are following it with J is for Jellyfish animal craft!

These letter crafts are a fun way to help kids learn the letters of the alphabet in a fun and creative way. Each week we share a new animal letter craft that can be done by preschoolers and kindergarteners. At the end of the series, kids will have an entire set of animal alphabet letters that they can bind into a book! Let’s continue this week with the letter J!

Materials for the J is for Jellyfish Craft

  • J is for Jellyfish Printables
  • Scissors
  • Crayons
  • Glue

Getting the Letter J Craft Ready

Print enough letter J and craft sheets for every student. You may want you print extra copies in case students decide they need a “do-over” for any reason.

Doing the Letter J Craft

Have each student color their letter J paper. The letter J will form one of the jellyfish’s tentacles. Two other tentacles will be glued on later. Each letter in this series is outlined with a bold, black line. This helps those students who get easily frustrated about “coloring out of the lines” feel more secure in their coloring abilities.

After coloring the letter, allow students to trace the text at the bottom of the page (this is optional. There are pages available without the tracing text).

Once the letter J paper is completed, pass out the craft sheet containing the jellyfish head, eyes, and tentacles. Have students color the craft sheet pieces.

Once each piece is colored they can cut them out following the bold, black lines.

After all the craft pieces have been cut, students can glue them to their letter J paper. The completed project is a great piece of art for kids to take home and hang on the fridge with pride!

You can also choose to three hole punch each completed project and bind them into a Letter of the Week book at the end of the series. Since each letter will feature a different animal, this would make a great Animal Alphabet book as well!
