Welcome back to our Animal Alphabet Letter of the Week Series! Letter of the Week activities are fun and simple to do with preschoolers and kindergartners. Doing letter of the week with your students ensures they will have a chance to learn each letter of the alphabet in a fun and creative way. This week we will be focusing on the Animal Alphabet R is for Rhinoceros Craft. Let’s get started!

Getting the Animal Alphabet R Craft Ready

Print enough letter R and craft sheets for every student. You may want to print extras in case students decide they need a do-over for any reason.

Doing the Animal Alphabet R Craft

Have each student color their letter. The letter R will form the body of the rhinoceros. Students may have questions about what colors rhinos really are, so you may want a few picture books or printouts of what they look like for further investigation.

My child chose to color his rhino purple, like the one in the book Rhinos Don’t Eat Pancakes by Anna Kemp (a super fun book that would pair well with this craft!).

After coloring he traced the “R r is for Rhinoceros” sentence at the bottom of his paper.

Next, he colored and cut the craft pieces out. The craft pieces include two rhino horns, an ear, a mouth, and an eye.

Last he glued each piece to the appropriate spot on his alphabet letter (each craft comes with a picture sample for students to look at and follow)

You can choose to save each project and bind them together at the end of the series to make an animal alphabet book that kids and parents will love!

I keep trying to download the letter R but it brings me to a ‘404 page not found’. Any advice to get around this?
    Thank you

[…] A Dab Of Glue Will Do has free animal letter printables for the entire alphabet, including the letter R for rhino. Print out copies for the entire class: they can learn R while they’re busy coloring during indoor recess or any time you need a quick (but still educational) activity. If you’re a parent, this is a wonderful way to celebrate kids whose names begin with an R — maybe set up a stack of these for a birthday party activity. […]
