Making the Ornaments:

To begin making this craft, have your students arrange seven small popsicle sticks together. You may need to help them cut down a large popsicle stick into two pieces to glue across the top and bottom of the small popsicle sticks. Once the glue has dried completely, your students will turn the popsicle sticks over and paint the front brown. After the front has dried, they will paint the back brown as well. I like to paint Rudolph a darker brown and Clarice a lighter brown.

To create the antlers, your students will cut a brown chenille pipe cleaner in half and bend one half into the shape of a V. They will glue the other two pieces to each side of the pipe cleaner that was bent in half. Finally, have your students glue the antlers to the back of the popsicle sticks.

Now it is time for their faces! Your students will glue a red button to Rudolph and a black button to Clarice. Then they will glue on googly eyes.

Next, have your students glue glitter tape across the bottom of the popsicle sticks slightly wrapping around the back. Place a bell on a small piece of twine or ribbon and glue to the bottom of the popsicle sticks, then glue another piece of glitter tape across the back.

Don’t forget about Clarice! Your students can cut a rectangle from red cardstock and cover it in red glitter tape. Have them cut out the shape of a bow to glue to Clarice.

They can even use a white paint pen to add polka dots to the bow! Finally, glue twine or ribbon onto the back of the popsicle sticks for hanging on a tree.
