Christmas is a fun time of year, especially when we get talking about our favorite animal of the season, Reindeers!
Our students can’t get enough of these adorable winter friends.
We make cute Reindeer Stick Crafts and hang them up all over our classroom. Students love naming all the reindeers, each year everyone seems to agree that Rudolph is our favorite! We make the adorable Rudolph Ornaments so our little learners can share them with their family.
There is always a ton of stuff for students to bring home before winter break, we make taking their goodies home easy and fun with these Reindeer Bags. No take-home bag would be complete without Reindeer Food!
We sing Rudolph the “Red Nose Reindeer” so many times it gets stuck in my head for months.
We wouldn’t want it any other way!
Because animals and reindeer are a great way to get kids learning without realizing their learning.
To connect reindeer with science and the study of animals, we’ve created Reindeer Facts: An Animal Study so our students can learn and research about animals in an enjoyable hands-on way!
Be sure to take a look at all of our Holiday Animal Studies.

Science Lesson Plans for the Week
Throughout the week students will be completing science activities about reindeer.
Students are able to compare and contrast the differences in reindeer and whitetail deer, and animals that migrate and do not migrate.
Our little researchers enjoy labeling the parts of a reindeer, and completing the Can, Have, Are craftivity.
When students are done at the end of the week they are able to show what they know by creating a Reindeer Fact Book or Reindeer Research Project.
Definition Posters
There are seven different definition posters to help students better understand key vocabulary words about reindeer.
Reindeer and White Tail Deer PowerPoint and Posters
There is a twelve-page PowerPoint to help students understand the respective differences and similarities between reindeer and whitetail deer. Real pictures are included.
Reindeer Facts and White Tail Deer Venn Diagram
Students can work together to complete a reindeer and whitetail deer Venn Diagram. They can also complete a reindeer and whitetail deer comparison worksheet to show their knowledge of these animals when finished. All the pieces and Venn Diagram are included.
Reindeer Facts PowerPoint and Posters
There is a fifteen-page PowerPoint that introduces students to reindeer. With real pictures.
Can, Have, Are Reindeer Craftivity
There are two different versions of the worksheet for students to complete, this way you are able to differentiate this craftivity if you have younger students.
There is also a template for students to color and cut out for the craft part of this activity.
Does Migrate and Does Not Migrate Sort and Worksheet
Students are able to sort and talk about animals that migrate and animals that do not. There are 24 real pictures of animals for students to sort according to whether or not they migrate or do not migrate.
Upon completion of the lesson, students show off their mastery of migration by completing the worksheet.
Parts of a Reindeer
There is a poster that shows the different parts of a reindeer. Upon completion of the lesson, students will have some hands-on fun labeling the different parts of a reindeer.
Reindeer Facts Book
This is perfect for younger students that are not quite ready for a research project.
Our youngest learners are able to apply everything they have learned during the week, making a reindeer facts book.
They will write five reindeer facts and illustrate each fact. For students that are unable to write just yet, the five reindeer facts are already written and students will simply illustrate each fact.
Reindeer Research Project Craftivity
If you would like your students to complete a reindeer research project, this craftivity is for you!
Students will research a reindeer’s appearance, habitat, behaviors, diet, predators, and adaptations. There is also a source page so students can list where they found the information.
