The perfect Christmas craft for your elementary students is Stained Glass Ornaments! They make beautiful winter crafts or fine motor activities for kids.

Materials Needed for the Stained Glass Ornaments:

  • Tissue Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Black Paint
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Twine
  • Black Cardstock
  • Contact Paper
  • Stained Glass Ornaments Template (scroll to the bottom of the page for the download)

The perfect Christmas craft for your elementary students is Stained Glass Ornaments! They make beautiful winter crafts or fine motor activities for kids.

Doing the Stained Glass Ornaments Craft:

To begin, your students will paint 4 popsicle sticks black and allow them to dry completely. While your wait for the popsicle sticks to dry, download the silhouette template and print out. Your students can trace the templates onto black cardstock and cut them out.

Next, they will glue the popsicle sticks into a square. While the glue is setting, your students will rip the colored tissue paper into small pieces.The perfect Christmas craft for your elementary students is Stained Glass Ornaments! You will need to help them by cutting a piece of contact paper a little larger than the size of the popsicle stick square. Then, have your students cover the sticky part of the contact paper with the tissue paper. Once it is covered in colored tissue paper, cut a second piece of contact paper a little larger than the size of the popsicle stick square and place it on top. Be sure to press out any bubbles!

You will then cut the contact paper to the size of the popsicle stick square. Your students can glue the silhouette of their choice onto the contact paper. After that, glue the contact paper onto the back of the popsicle stick square.

Your students can then glue a small piece of twine to the top of the ornament for hanging on a Christmas tree. Their Stained Glass Ornaments is finished. These would make wonderful family keepsake gifts!
