Everyone in Texas looks forward to the fall. Summer is always brutal in Texas so the cooler weather means we can actually go outside and play comfortably. {Teachers and mothers rejoice!} We do not always get the beautiful leaf color changes here, but I think it is so fun to teach my students and children about them. To celebrate the fabulous fall changes, I love incorporating anything fall related into my centers. This Leaf Number Sort and Trace is a perfect way to combine math, fun, and leaves all into a no-prep center. Implementing Leaf Number Sort and Trace In Your Classroom
Leaf Number Sort and Trace comes with 10 pages of centers, covering numbers one through ten. Each page has one tree with a number written on it and 6 leaves with the same number written on each one.

Students will essentially sort the leaves by their number and place on the corresponding tree. Before my daughter starting sorting the numbers, we went through each of the tree cards and talked about the different numbers. We talked about how the leaves had numbers and she was able to recognize a few of them. Without any prompting she simply started picking up the leaves and putting them on the correct tree. She had so much fun finding where each leaf went.

If you notice that your students or children are struggling at first, limit the number of trees you have out. Maybe start with just three trees and their leaves and as they master those, you can add more in.
For an extension of this activity, you can have students trace the numbers using Vis-a-Vie markers. This helps preschool and kindergarten students strengthen their fine motor skills, while practicing number formation.

To prepare for this center all you need to do is print and laminate. Using a paper cutter, cut out the tree and leaves. It literally took me two minutes. Super simple.

Hi Kate! The download seems to be working ok. If you are using a school email account sometimes they block our emails so you may want to try using a private email. If that still doesn’t work you can try our troubleshooting tips here >> https://www.adabofgluewilldo.com/troubleshooting/ Let me know if you need more help! Thank you
