Celebrate learning this fall season! Dive deep into our October-themed kindergarten math and literacy centers.

What do cooler weather, decorations, and excited children have in common? They are all a part of the month of October! October is a great time of year in the classroom. Both teachers and students are used to the routines of the school day, and things are running a little more smoothly than they were in August and September. The weather gets a little cooler, and we decorate our house (and maybe our classrooms too!) for fall and Halloween. To celebrate learning during the fall, we love our October-themed kindergarten math and literacy centers.

The children are excitedly bouncing off the walls with the first mention of candy, costumes, and October 31st. But while October is full of fun, there is also a lot of learning that must be done! We dive into pumpkins with our stacks of books all about pumpkins and “fill” our wheelbarrows with pumpkin CVC words and editable pumpkin sight words.

We can’t even think about this time of year without exploring Halloween themes. These October science experiments are spooktacular and entertaining. Our kindergarteners love rhyming with bats and working on numbers, letters, and their fine motor skills with these bats. We add in Halloween STEM activities throughout the month to get us excited and engaged.

I like to start off each school day of the month by giving my students a page to work on from our October Daily Literacy Review Journal, the perfect morning work! And on the same note, I use our October Daily Math Review Journal pages as a transition into our math block or as a way to end math. They are the perfect little grab-and-go activities!

At this point in the year, we can better understand our students’ individual needs so we can meet them where they’re at. This means I am always looking to differentiate my materials and find the best ways to make learning fun and attainable for my students. This is why I use these Kindergarten October Math and Literacy Centers. This bundle is full of my favorite October kindergarten activities and will help you make the month even more exciting for your students!

Using the October Math and Literacy Centers for Kindergarten

Once you purchase and download the October math and literacy centers for kindergarten, you’ll be ready to get started! The center bundle is separated into neat and tidy digital folders for each subject and center category. You can look through each center and either print or make a list of what needs to be printed, copied, laminated, and cut. It may seem like a lot of prep at first, but printing on cardstock and/or laminating as much as possible will help make many parts of these centers reusable for every October to come.

You can even choose to use these center activities as whole or small group work, or a mix of both! The options are endless when you have 40 October-themed math and literacy centers to choose from. You can introduce all the centers at the start of the month or a few each week, it’s up to you! Make sure to model the center activities and clearly state what the expectations are for each type of center to your students. This will help your kindergarteners be more independent and allow you to work with groups or individual students while your class is engaged in the centers.
