Apple Writing Center has everything that you need to include into your literacy rotations when learning about apples.

When I was teaching kindergarten. I LOVED using themes. I thought that it made the material so much more engaging and fun for kids. Pretty much every single week was a new theme. With each theme, I had themed literacy and math centers. One of the literacy centers was a always writing, where I offered themed picture/word cards in case students wanted to write about the theme we were learning about. Since we have been studying apples during the last week, I thought that it only seemed fitting to share with you our apple writing center.

Be sure to check out more of our apple learning activities for early childhood!

What’s Inside the Apple Writing Center

This center includes 17 word wall cards and a variety of writing paper for your students. I always liked to place the word wall cards in a pocket chart and place next to a table. Mine worked out perfectly in this corner. I could not be more happy with it!

I found it easiest to store all of the writing paper options in a container filled with file folders. At the start of writing center, students could choose their writing paper and then their writing tool. After that they were ready to write!

With some themes, the words we are discussing can be quite difficult for beginning writers, especially for beginner writers. I found that having picture word cards allowed students to feel much more comfortable and willing to take risks in their writing.  Students in my classroom are not required to write about the themes, but most truly enjoyed writing about what we were learning in class. It was absolute magic when you had students incorporating what they were learning about infused with their wonderful imaginations. That always made my teacher heart oh SO happy.
