Getting the Ice Cream Sight Word Match Up Ready

This free printable is very easy to prep. I recommend printing on cardstock and laminating so it can easily be used year after year. I typically use a paper cutter to cut out the entire puzzle and then go back and cut out the individual pieces with scissors.

This ice cream sight word match up freebie is a fun & hands-on way to help your little learners with their early literacy skills!

Doing the Ice Cream Sight Word Match Up

Students will start the activity by laying all of the pieces on the floor or table. It might be a good idea to have the students work in small groups the first time they try to complete the ice cream sight word match up. They will then choose a sight word from the cone or ice cream pile. This student chose an ice cream piece with the word “we” on it.

Learning sight words is hands-on and fun with this Ice Cream Sight Word Match Up!

Next your students will then search through the cone pile looking for the ice cream cone piece that has the same word on it. Once it is found the match will be complete.

They can continue until all ice cream cones are done or time is up.
