Christmas is one of our favorite times of year! From the weather, the smells, and all the festive activities, we just can’t get enough.

We bring in Christmas decorations, play holiday music, eat yummy holiday treats and even play reindeer games! Our youngest learners are so excited with everything about the season.

We love reading our collection of Christmas books in our library and students show off their artistic side with their Christmas Tree Fingerprint paintings.  And our students love playing Christmas Bingo…their giggles and smiles are the best!

If you are looking for year-round bingo check out our Holiday Bingo Bundle.

Christmas activities are a great way to get kids learning without realizing they are learning.

To connect Christmas with sight words, we’ve created this Christmas Editable Sight Word Activity so our little learners can review their sight words in an enjoyable hands-on way!

If you want more ways to implement Christmas and the winter theme into your classroom curriculum, take a look at all of our Winter Activities.

Getting the Christmas Editable Sight Word Activity Ready

This Christmas themed editable printable is easy to prep. After you purchase the activity and download it, you’ll need to open the document with the most up-to-date version of Adobe.

You’ll then be able to type in the sight words your class is currently working on.

As your students learn more words, or to differentiate for your students, you can add words and personalize it for your students’ needs.

I find it works best to print these out on cardstock and laminate them before I cut them so it can easily be used year after year. Here’s how I keep my Language Arts materials organized throughout the year.

Using the Christmas Editable Sight Word Activity

Students will start their sight word game by placing all of the pieces on a table or on the floor. It may help students to work in small groups the first time they try to complete the Christmas sight words activity.

They will then choose a sight word tree from the pile. This student chose the word “the.“

Next, your students will search through the ornament pile looking for the letters to spell out the same word on the tree.

Once they’ve spelled out the word, they can choose a new Christmas tree and continue word building until all the words are done or their time is up.

If you have younger students or students who need extra review or practice, you can simplify the activity.

Provide those students with only a few sight words or the sight words they haven’t yet learned. Once they master those words, you can slowly add in more.

Whether students are playing the sight word game or showing off their mastery of words with their Christmas themed worksheets, they will be so proud and have a sense of accomplishment.
