12 Children’s Christmas Books for Little Learners

This is seriously my most favorite time of the year. It makes me happy. You can bet I spend most of December reading Children’s Christmas books to my students and children. They LOVE them and, honestly, so do I. So, I am excited to share my 12 favorite Christmas books with you!

A list ofchristmas read alouds for kids

Reading some of these Children’s Christmas Books to your little ones is a great way to really get everyone excited about the upcoming holiday.  Even at a young age, children can become enthralled with the stories of Christmas.  These are all excellent choices to help encourage their love of reading and story time.

Bear would normally hibernate right through Christmas, but this year, his friends are determined to keep him awake and show him what he’s missing!

The Littlest Elf by Brandi Dougherty

New York Time’s bestsellers of the book, The Littlest Penguin, bring us this sweet holiday story about the littlest elf! This book includes stickers too, which your little one is sure to enjoy.  This is definitely one of those children’s Christmas books I would tuck into a stocking!

He learns that it is important to think of others!  The Corduroy books are some of our favorites, and definitely top on the list of children’s Christmas books!

Young readers will love this Lift-the-flap board book  about a farmer and his snowy dream. I wonder who that farmer becomes in his dream?

A Christmas season cannot go by in our house without reading this book at least 10 times! If you don’t have this classic in your collection, I urge you look into that!

This is a lovely and uplifting story about a little Christmas tree whose wishes finally come true when somebody takes her home.

In this rockin’ new spin on the traditional tale, The Night Before Christmas, Pete the Cat proves that giving your all in the spirit of Christmas is the totally groovy thing to do.

Llama Llama Holiday Drama by Anna Dewdney

Our 12 favorite Christmas books are perfect for your Christmas lesson plans or at home with your children. These are great for preschool, kindergarten, or first grade students.

Poor Llama Llama is tired of waiting for Christmas to come! This rhyming book gets the impatient emotions of a preschooler spot-on.  Your children will laugh at and relate to Llama Llama’s drama.

Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree by Robert Berry

Our 12 favorite Christmas books are perfect for your Christmas lesson plans or at home with your children. These are great for preschool, kindergarten, or first grade students.

Mr. Willowby’s tree is too tall for his room. But what will happen to the top that got cut off? Find out as this story unfolds.
