Need a simple craft for kids this winter? Have fun with this Winter Craft and Snack For Kids! It’s a simple art activity for kids with fine motor too! And your students are going to love the healthy snack too!

A winter tree craft on blue paper made with popcorn

It’s beginning to look a lot like winter in the Midwest! When we woke up this morning, we saw our first dusting of snow for the season on the ground. I knew that my students were going to be excited, so I thought it would be the perfect time for us to create a winter tree craft and learn all about winter.

Materials Needed To Make Winter Craft and Snack For Kids:

  • Blue Construction Paper
  • Brown Construction Paper
  • Popcorn
  • Glue
  • Scissors

One of my favorite things about this Winter craft is that you don’t need very many materials to make it. If you don’t already have the supplies at home or in your classroom, you can find everything you need at the dollar store or ask your students’ families to bring in the popcorn.

This simple activity requires very little preparation too. All you need to do is pop the popcorn, let it cool, and pour it into small bowls. Then, you can lay out the rest of the materials for your students.

Doing The Winter Craft For Kids:

To begin making the craft, your students will cut the brown construction paper into different sized rectangles. They will then glue the shapes on to the blue construction paper to create a tree without any leaves.

Instead of using brown construction paper, your students can also use brown butcher paper or shipping paper. They can cut or tear the paper and twist it to create more dimension and detail to their craft.

Next, your students will use popcorn as the snow and glue it onto the tree branches and ground. If you don’t have popcorn, you can use cotton balls, pom poms, or crumbled paper.

This Winter Tree Craft is an easy and fun craft for children to create to celebrate the first snowfall of the season. It is also a great addition to your Winter or Seasons units.
