I love using the New Year as a reason to reflect on the past year, while also focusing on goals for the new year. These New Years Time Capsule Ideas have students reflecting on where they are now and where they want to be in the future.

It’s so much fun to talk to our little learners about the upcoming New Year and see all of their insight about the past year and all the hope to see in the New Year. No matter how young or old they are their perspective is amazing.

To celebrate the year ahead we like to build up the anticipation with this New Years Eve Countdown Clock. Kids love creating these. And these New Years Glasses and Writing Activity are always full of fun and giggles. Reading books about the New Year is a way to talk about the holiday while sneaking in some literacy.

Use this time capsule to remember what your students' were like this year when you reopen it a long time from now.

New Year’s Time Capsule Ideas and Printable

It’s important to teach our own students the importance of doing this. It will be a valuable tool for our students that they benefit them as they grow up.  It’s an excellent way for them to give back to others in the future by sharing something that is important to them now.

And our kiddos love exploring these fun holidays. And what better way to explore the coming year than to take a look at everything that is important to us. Our kids love making these time capsules and especially love it while they wear their New Year’s Glasses they made themselves.

After students have completed the chosen worksheets for their New Years Time Capsule Ideas kit, have them work together in pairs or small groups to measure one another using yarn.

Once each student has a yarn, their completed worksheets can be rolled up and tie the yarn around it.
