The Presidential Election will be here before we know it . Since this is a very important event for the United States that only happens every four years, it is important to discuss and educate even the littlest of learners. I always love combining social studies with literacy so I created an Election Day Emergent Reader and Ballot activity.

The Election Day Emergent Reader contains eight different pages to help teach students about election day. It walks students through a very basic introduction to the presidential election. Each page contains one to two sentences and then has an image above it. For many of these students, they will have no knowledge of presidential elections so a visual will be very important in helping students understand exactly what they are reading.

There is a color and black and white version for students included in this freebie. If you choose to do black and white, you can have your students color their Election Day Emergent Reader prior to reading. I always find this helps introduce students to the material, while also providing them with some ownership over their own book.

If you use the Election Day Emergent Reader in the classroom while you are learning about elections, you can send it home with your students to add to their book collection at home. If you do not have time to complete in your classroom, you can simply send the book home and have students complete it at home.

The Presidential Election will be here before we know it. Since this is an event that only happens every four years, it is so important to introduce the concept to even the littlest of learners. This can easily be done by having a mock election in the classroom. My students always loved when we did this on election day and it helps teach the importance of voting a young age.

I tried to download the emergent reader for elections and it has not come through as of yet to my email address like stated. Any idea how long it takes to be emailed?

As soon as you press “get printable”, you will be redirected to a new page with a survey and the freebie. You can do it again without being added to the list twice. Please let me know if you have any questions.

It must have been from the exit intent. That one drivers an alphabet book. Go to the election emergent reader page and try again. The popup will not appear. Sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know if that does it work.

That is for the exit intent popup. If click the download image on the page itself, you will get the correct one. I hope that helps.

Adorable. I haven’t seen a “voters” booth forever. It would be a great addition to a dramatic play area!! Thank you 🙂
