Counting is so much more fun to teach when it’s through fun stories. I always love how excited students are to show their counting skills and practice while we read. Here’s a list of 12 fun counting books for little learners you’ll want to add to your classroom library today.

Quack and Count by Keith Baker

Little flying ducks are getting ready to fly! Watch as they slip and slide to their new skill through this beautiful, rhyming book.

Counting Crocodiles by Judy Sierra

This brave little money only wants a banana. But to get there he must navigate through crocodiles! Watch as money counts each one and makes it to his beloved banana.

How Many Bugs in a Box? by David A. Carter

This is a fun pop-up book that never disappoints! Little, funny names bugs pop out of all kinds of different place in this book to make counting fun for any reader.

Zoo First to 20 and First to 50 Math Game is a great way for students to practice one to one correspondence, counting, and addition. This free printable is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade.
