Getting Apple Digraph Sound Match-Up Ready:

Print the match-ups (Color or Black & White), laminate and cut using a paper trimmer.  Gather all of the pieces and place in a plastic container. I love using plastic pencil cases to store centers like these. It keeps everything in one place and does not take up a ton of space.

This obviously doesn’t take a ton of time to put together and makes a wonderful activity to help your kids have fun and learn at the same time.

Teaching digraph blends just got easier with this apple digraph blend match up! Perfect for your early literacy center during the Fall or anytime of the year.

Doing Apple Digraph Sound Match-Up

Students will start the activity by choosing an apple with a letter on it . My daughter chose the apple with the digraph sound “Ch”. Encourage your students to sound out the word to hear the ending sound.

Encourage your students to sound out the digraph blend as they complete this apple digraph match up.

Students will then sort through all of the apples with pictures looking for the ones that start with the ending sound “Ch”.

Teaching digraph blends is hands-on and fun when you implement apple digraph blend match ups in your classroom!

Each apple barrel has six apples with a visual. Once the apple barrel has has six apples representing the corresponding letter, they can move on to a new letter and start again.

Learning digraph blends has never been easier when you implement this apple digraph blend match up into your early literacy center.

Another way this could be completed, is to have all of the apple barrels laid out on a table or even the floor. Students will then sort through all of the apples and place each one at the correct cone.

Teaching digraph blends just got easier thanks to this apple digraph blend match up!

If you have younger (or struggling) students that would be overwhelmed by the amount of puzzle pieces in this activity, scale it back. Provide them with only a few of the digraph blends. Once they master those, you can slowly add in more.
