A card that says "Dad, You rock! Love, Molly" with a decorated rock attached

It is hard to believe that it is June already! Once June arrives in all its glory, it only means one thing…school is out I mean, Father’s Day. Schools down south are all out by this time of year so typically gifts are not made for dads. Not fair, right? Let’s change that this year with this quick and easy Father’s day gift that your husband is guaranteed to love.

We decided to paint our rocks first so they could dry before we started decorating them. Whenever we paint I LOVE using plastic tablecloths to contain the mess as much as possible. I got mine from the Dollar Store, but if you need something shipped to your house these are a great option. My oldest, Molly, was very much into the activity. Charlotte, however, had a completely different agenda. 🙂

We let the rocks dry overnight and then we decorated them the next morning. If you were in a time crunch or wanted to complete the gift in one day, you could leave them outside for a few hours to dry and then decorate. For decorations I pulled out our Giant Art Jar. This thing is amazing and full of crafty things that you can spend hours doing with your kids. We got it for Christmas last year and it has been so much fun. Depending on how old your kids are, you can either have them decorate the rock independently or help them. I let Molly pick out everything she wanted to use in order to decorate her rock. She showed me where she wanted the glue and I put some there and then she placed everything exactly how and where she wanted.

I printed the card out on card stock for extra durability since a rock would be attached to it. For younger kids you can sign their name and let them decorate the card. For older kids, they can sign their own name. I wrote Molly’s name and then she used watercolors to decorate the card.

After nap, I glued the rock onto the card with a hot glue gun and just like that their Father’s Day gift is complete! Super easy and super fun. Pretty fabulous, right?
