When I was a teacher I was in charge of the Sunshine Committee. I loved being able to bring all the teachers together in random, fun ways throughout the school year. One of my favorite things to do was the BOO! Bucket. This was the perfect way to kick off the holiday season and get everyone excited about the next few months. It was also great because, let’s be honest, by mid-October we are all teacher tired and we need something to give us a little pep and excitement to get us through until Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Are you looking for more Halloween ideas, activities, and printables to do at home or in the classroom? If so click here.

What is a BOO! Bucket?

A BOO! Bucket is an awesome way to bring the staff at your school together while spreading some Halloween cheer! Teachers will compile a bunch of Halloween goodness into a container of some sort, along with the printed instructions and “I’ve Been BOOed” sign.

Before school starts or when the lucky teacher or staff member is not in the room you can place the BOO! Bucket in their classroom or on their door so they will have a nice surprise when they return.

The teacher(s) that received the BOO! Bucket then have up to two days to spread the Halloween cheer to another colleague. This will continue until all staff have a sign outside of their door.

Depending on the size of your school, you will have one to three people start the chain. I recommend starting early October so that there is enough time to work its way through the entire school. This will be especially important if you are at a big school.

I hope that you and your school enjoy the BOO! Bucket!

Love this idea! Just wondering, did you do anything at Christmas like this? We have done secret santa’s in the past and I was looking for something different.

Oh! That’s a great idea. I haven’t tried any Christmas themed buckets, but it sounds like a lot of fun.
