Editable paper apple baskets, apples, and worksheets to practice spelling your name

When we head back to school and during the fall months everything around us is apples.

Our little learners love to eat apples while they work on different apple activities.

We get creative with our Pipe Cleaner and Straw Apple Crafts and we work on our fine motor skills with our Paper Plate Apple Craft.

And to bring apple trees into the classroom we “grow” our very own Apple Trees.

Our students are little engineers when we build these Apple Boats STEM Activity as our kids explore science in a hands-on way.

We discover the different sizes, shapes, and colors of apples and learn about the life cycle of an apple with our kindergarten and pre-k apple science units. And we sing Raffi’s “Apples and Bananas” song so many times it gets stuck in my head for months.

That’s what makes teaching and learning about apples so much fun.

Apples are a great way to get kids learning without realizing they are learning.

Our youngest learners take so much pride when they master spelling their names. To bring a fall theme together with this skill, I’ve created this Apple Editable Name Activity so our kids can practice building their names in an exciting way.

Looking for more ways to implement the apple themes into your classroom curriculum? Take a look at these Apple Literacy and Math Centers.

Apple Editable Name Activity

This is such a fun and interactive way for students to learn about the letters in their name.

This resource is perfect for helping our little ones master building their name. Students are engaged as they are learning with this hands-on EDITABLE name game. This apple-themed editable name printable is ideal for Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms at the beginning of the year and throughout fall.

It’s perfect for literacy stations, independent work, or in small review groups.

Inside You’ll Find:

  • Editable baskets and apples (color and black and white)
  • 5 themed editable name worksheets

Along with the editable name game, there are 5 editable worksheets students can complete to assess their understanding of the material. You will have black and white options available to save your color ink.

Getting the Apple Editable Name Activity Ready

This is an easy prep editable activity. After you purchase the printable and download it, you’ll then need to open the document with the most updated version of Adobe.

The first thing you will want to do is type out the name of your student (or child) in the highlighted space on the basket. Then you will spell out their name on the apples, with one letter per apple.

I find it works best to print these out on cardstock and laminate them before cutting them out so it can easily be used over and over again and even taken home for practice.

Using the Apple Editable Name Activity

Students will have their own basket and apples with their names on them. I store activities like this in Ziploc baggies so they are easier to keep track of them.

Kids will first look at their name on the basket. This will be the perfect guide for helping little learners recognize their name and associate it with it in print.

As we start the name game I have them place all of their pieces on the floor or table. They will then start filling up their basket with apples from the pile until their name is built. This student’s name is “Jack.”

To differentiate for older students, you can leave the basket blank and students can build their name on their own. To make things more challenging you can also leave everything blank and have students write the letters of their names on the apples. This way they can then fill up their baskets without any guidance at all.

Whether students are playing the name game or showing off mastering their name with their apple-themed worksheets, they will have bushels of fun and a sense of accomplishment.
