I love finding fun ways to encourage my little learners to review concepts. These Write the Room Blends are guaranteed to be a hit. Your students will be moving and learning. What is not to love?!

A write the room activity to practice blends

Write the Room Blends comes with 24 different star blends. There are two different versions: one has the words below the star and the other just has the star and the blend. There are also two recording sheets for students to write the blends as the find them around the classroom.

Write the Room Blends is the perfect literacy center that combine movement and learning, while having fun learning. This free printable is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students.

Getting Write the Room Blends Ready

This free printable is very easy to prep. I recommend printing the blend cards on cardstock and laminating so it can easily be used year after year. These are quick and easy to cut. Simply use a paper cuter and you will be done in no time!

Print the recording sheets on regular paper. Each student will need one. If you need to save on paper you can easily laminate or slip in a paper protector for students to write on with a vis-a-vie marker.

Doing Write the Room Blends

Prior to starting the activity you will use double sided tape to stick the blend cards around the room.

I find it easiest to have students use a clipboard to hold their paper in place, while also providing them with something hard to write on.

Students will walk around the classroom looking for blend cards. As they find one, they will identify the blend and write the word on the corresponding number.

They will continue this until they have completed the recording sheet.
