We love activities that encourage children to practice spelling their names. Using this fun Turkey Names thankful turkey craft is a great way to teach the concept of learning to write their name which can be tricky for the littlest of learners.

This fun activity helps students to practice building their names with this adorable turkey craft. This is a fun way for kids to see their name in print while they are filling in the feathers of their turkey.

Using holiday theme activities is a great way to introduce learning while playing fun games and activities. This Thanksgiving Bingo and Turkey Ending Sound Match Up is always a student favorite throughout November. And when we explore Turkeys in our animal science unit our kids are able to dig in deep about these feathered animals.

Getting Turkey Names Ready

To edit this resource, you will need to download the KG font used (KG Primary Penmanship). Next, you will open the document with Adobe Acrobat. You will first type out the name of your student (or child) in the highlighted space on the turkey’s body. Then you will spell out that name on the feathers, with one letter per feather.

Building Our Names with Turkeys

Each student will have their own set of turkey and feathers. You can easily store these in a Ziploc baggie so that students can better keep track of all the pieces. Here’s how I like to store and organize my language art centers.

I love this and your site! Do you have it in black and white? I would like to have my class color the turkey and write their letters on the feathers. It would cost too much t to print in color. Thank you for sharing this!

    Hi there,

Love the activity! Is there anyway you could make it so that it is in black and white and then we could just print on color? Thanks! Sue

Thank you so much for sharing this cute learning activity. Would you please make it available in black and white so that the children may color it and I save money on ink? I would greatly appreciate it. I hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Precious! Some black and white “colorable” versions would be helpful for those of us that can’t print too many colored copies for our students!
