This Space Science Lesson Unit will have your little learners shooting for the stars with excitement! This lesson unit will teach your students all about stars, phases of the moon, constellations, and more.

Nearly every student loves space and trying to count the stars at night. We all have students who dream of exploring space or becoming an astronaut, and this space unit study is going to be their favorite science lesson yet!

This unit study is designed for elementary students and covers all the best things about space that students are fascinated by.

The week-long lesson plan is full of experiential learning, with tons of informational material and hands-on activities that will benefit visual learners, auditory learners, and kinesthetic learners alike.

Your students will have so much fun learning about each planet and star that they will learn without realizing they’re learning. Each section is covered carefully to ensure your students will have a mastery of the subject.

Materials Needed for the Space Science Unit:

  • paper or cardstock
  • laminating pouches
  • laminator
  • double-sided tape, adhesive magnetic strips
  • materials listed inside the product for each of the space learning activities

How to Use This Space Unit Study:

The instructions and lesson plan for the Space unit study are included to make your work as a teacher a little lighter. Use as much or as little of that schedule to work with your current schedule for this study unit.

Students will be able to create an “All About Space” book that they can take home once completed to read again and again!

Students will fill in the pages of this book as they learn about a different topic. Each page will include basic facts and hands-on activities to reinforce what they learned.

Students will have a blast making suns and moons and solar systems with their hands to illustrate their books on space!

In addition to the hands-on activities, you’ll also find comprehensive PowerPoint presentations that can also be used as posters to hang around the room while you explore space as a class.

These presentations include beautiful, high-quality images paired with facts to wow your students and help them retain information. Students will learn all about the Earth and how incredible it is as our home.

It’s my favorite thing to watch students learn that the sun is just one of the many stars in our night sky. Your students will love learning about how HUGE the tiny sparkling lights in our night sky really are!

My students love talking about the unique characteristics of each planet and what makes our Earth so special.

Students will learn about each planet, what makes them different, and their distance from the sun and Earth.
