President’s Day will be here before we know and what better way to teach our students about it than having them create their very own Presidents’ Day Emergent Reader. This resource will be the perfect addition to your lesson plans and allow your students to combine social studies and language arts.

Presidents' Day Emergent readers, one in color and one in black and white. Both books are open to pages that include information about Abraham Lincoln.

The Presidents’ Day Emergent Reader contains 14 different pages to help teach students about Presidents. It walks students through a very basic introduction to what Presidents’ Day is about. Each page contains one to two sentences and then has an image above it.

Presidents' Day Emergent Reader is the perfect addition to your social studies lesson plans this February. This free printable is great for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students.

There is a color and black and white version for students included in this freebie. If you choose to do black and white, you can have your students color their President’s Day Emergent Reader prior to reading. I always find this helps introduce students to the material, while also providing them with some ownership over their own book.

If you use the Presidents’ Day Emergent Reader in the classroom while you are learning about this special, you can send it home with your students to add to their book collection at home. If you do not have time to complete it in your classroom, you can simply send the book home and have students complete it at home.
