Getting Animal Studies Holiday Bundle Ready
This particular resource is full of an assortment of activities and centers, therefore, preparation will vary. Below is a quick rundown of each component in the Animal Studies Holiday Bundle.
Science Lesson Plans for the Week
Throughout the week students will be completing science activities about the given holiday animal that they are studying. They will compare and contrast two similar animals, study the animal’s life cycle, learn the different parts of the animal, complete a real picture sort, and apply everything they have learned at the end of the week by creating a fact book or research project.
Definition Posters
There are different definition posters to help students better understand key vocabulary words about the animal.
Animal Comparison PowerPoint and Posters
There is a PowerPoint that describes the similarities and differences between the given animal and a similar animal. Real pictures are included. If you do not have access to a computer, there are identical posters that you can use instead
Venn Diagram to Compare Two Animals
As a class, everyone will compare and contrast the animals discussed above. Students can complete the comparison worksheet or fill out their own Venn Diagram when finished.
Animal PowerPoint and Posters
There is a PowerPoint that introduces students to the given animal. Real pictures are included. If you do not have access to a computer, there are identical posters that you can use instead.
Life Cycle Posters and a Worksheet
There are posters that show the life cycle of the given animal in real picture format (and some in clipart format too). Students can complete a life cycle worksheet after the lesson.
Sort and Worksheet
Every animal unit will have a picture sort related to the animal. There are real pictures of animals for students to sort. For turkeys, students will be sorting animals based on whether or not they can fly. Upon completion of the lesson, students can complete a worksheet.
Parts of an Animal
There is a poster that shows the different parts of the animal. Upon completion of the lesson, students will complete a worksheet that will require them to label the different parts.
Fact Book
This is perfect for younger students that are not quite ready for a research project. This craftivity has students apply everything that they have learned during the week. They will write five facts about the animal and illustrate each fact. For students that are unable to write just yet, the five animal facts are already written and students will simply illustrate each fact.
Research Project Craftivity
If you would like your students to complete an animal research project, this craftivity is for you! Students will research an animal’s appearance, habitat, behaviors, diet, predators, and adaptations. There is also a source page so students can list where they found the information.
