Materials Needed for Flowers Number Match-Up:
Getting Flowers Number Match-Up Ready:
Print the match-ups (Color or Black & White), laminate and cut using a paper trimmer. Gather all of the pieces and place in a plastic container. I love using plastic pencil cases to store centers like these. It keeps everything in one place and does not take up a ton of space.
This obviously doesn’t take a ton of time to put together and makes a wonderful activity to help your kids have fun and learn at the same time.
Doing Flowers Number Match-Up
Students will start the activity by choosing a stem with either a number. My daughter chose the flower with the number five.
Students will then sort through all of the petals with pictures looking for the ones that start with the number five.
Each flower has six petals with a visual. Once the flower has has six petals representing the corresponding number, they can move on to a new number and start again.
Another way this could be completed, is to have all of the flowers laid out on a table or even the floor. Students will then sort through all of the petals and place each one at the correct flower.
If you have younger (or struggling) students that would be overwhelmed by the number of puzzle pieces in this activity, scale it back. Provide them with only a few of the numbers or letters. Once they master those, you can slowly add in more.
For older students that will find the corresponding colors too easy, there is a multicolored petal option. Each number has six petals, each with a different color. This will then require students to use their knowledge of the material to complete the puzzles.
