Apples are a fun theme year-round, but I love using them in the early fall months with my students. These Apple Seed Number Match cards are a great way to help with counting and numbers, without writing.

My students love to practice their math and counting skills with these Apple Number Match Baskets, and get hands-on practice with addition and subtraction with these Editable Apple Addition and Subtraction Worksheets.

I use these Apple Seed Number Match as part of my Apple themed learning for little learners, but you can use them however fits with your lesson plan for some fun, hands-on counting activities!

This is an excellent way to make counting fun, without having to use a lot of manipulatives. These are very little prep and can be used to supplement other math lessons, or as a quiet learning activity as well.

• 20 black and white, two-piece cards, covering numbers 0-20

Apple Seed Number Match: Using Counting Cards

Print the cards on cardstock and laminate so you can make this reusable activity that will last for future classes.

Students will match the number word half, to the half with the same number of apple seeds.

Students can do this activity alone, or they can work together in pairs to find the number matches.

You could even do this as a timed activity once you felt students were ready for that step, or as more of a challenge for more advanced students.

If you want to do these in black and white to save color ink, you can print the black and white version that’s included.

Easily check students’ work as they work on matching numbers to number words.

Using these laminated Apple Seed Number Match cards, again and again, will be an easy way to reinforce number recognition and counting skills with your students.

To differentiate for younger students or students who need a review you can use only the Apple Seed Number Match cards with the numbers 1-10.

This is a great way to introduce number words and counting to beginning students with a hands-on activity.

To change it up for more advanced students, you can utilize the Apple Seed Number Match cards with the numbers 11-20. Once students have mastered the cards 1-10, giving them the opportunity to work on numbers 11-20 will help increase their knowledge base in no time.
